V) We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You,
R) because by your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.

Meditation

Jesus did not come down from the Cross
but remained on it until He died.
When He was taken down,
He rested on the bosom of his dear Mother.
I must keep on persevering in my resolutions
and not come down from my cross;
only then shall I be saved.
How pure should I want my heart to be so as to be more worthy
to receive the body and blood of Christ in Holy Communion.

Prayer

O Lord Jesus,
your lifeless and torn body found a worthy resting place
on the bosom of your Virgin Mother.
How often have I compelled You to come into my sinful heart,
a heart filled with pride, impurity and hatreds?
O Lord, create in me a new heart
that from now to the end of my life
You may love to stay with me.

Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

V) Lord, Jesus, crucified!
R) Have mercy on me!
