V) We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You,
R) because by your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.

Meditation

Jesus was most innocent.
He did not, nor could He commit a sin,
and yet He was condemned to death,
the most degrading death of the cross.
Because Pilate wished to remain a friend of Caesar,
he gave Him into the hands of His enemies.
What a fearful crime is this,
to condemn an innocent person and offend God,
so that he might please men.

Prayer

O innocent Jesus! I have sinned and am guilty of eternal death,
but You accepted the unjust sentence of death, that I might live.
For whom should I live, if not for You, my Lord.
I can't be your servant if I desire to please men.
Then, let me rather displease men and the whole world
than not to please You, O Jesus!

Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

V) Lord, Jesus, crucified!
R) Have mercy on me!
